Children needing minor surgery go to this unit before and after surgery and are expected to go home on the same day or within 23 hours of surgery. Most children stay for 1 to 3 hours after surgery and are usually discharged on the same day as surgery. The child will arrive from the Post Anesthetic Care Unit (PACU) by stretcher or crib. A responsible adult must stay with the child during the entire hospital stay.
