Gastrointestinal Inpatient Unit

This service assesses and treats children admitted to the Stollery Children's Hospital with Gastrointestinal issues.

Provides assessment, diagnosis and education in treating illnesses related to the gastrointestinal system, such as:

  • short gut
  • irritable bowel syndrome
  • crohn's disease including liver related issues

The program is a referral center for liver transplant assessment and transplantation in western canada. Patient care is managed collaboratively by the CHIRP (Children's intestinal rehabilitation program) team and gastroenterologists.
