Malnutrition Clinic

Malnutrition Clinic provides patients who are assessed as at risk and need additional support to achieve adequate nutritional intake.

Provides support to patients who may have unintentional weight loss or chronic medical conditions.

Patients may be followed for chronic medical conditions (ie: malabsorptive disorders, gastrointestinal conditions, chronic vomiting, or malnutrition related to cancer). Treatment is provided by a multidisciplinary team and may include enteral or parenteral nutrition therapy.

Eligibility

Patient must be 18 years of age, require support to achieve adequate nutritional intake, and have been previously assessed by a Registered Dietitian

Service Access

Healthcare providers should consult the Alberta Referral Directory for service referral information.

Referrals are faxed directly to the Gastrointestinal Physician.

A referral letter should include previous GI consults and investigations, past medical history, current medications and labs and investigations not available on netcare.
