Day Hospital provides intensive treatment for individuals who are decompensating within the community and without intervention/stabilization would require acute inpatient psychiatric care. The Day Hospital is a short-term intensive program for clients ages 17 and up who are experiencing an acute mental health and/or addiction concern requiring immediate services, and who may deteriorate without timely clinical intervention. Like an inpatient admission, the program offers a structured environment throughout the day, seven days a week, with a multi-disciplinary team providing assessment, intervention, crisis management, stabilization and psychoeducational groups. Unlike with hospitalization, Day Hospital has no beds and therefore individuals return home or to their community setting each evening. Those admitted to Day Hospital must be able to commence immediately and attend consistently for the duration of treatment. Length of stay will vary, as it depends on the clinical needs of the individual.
