Working in collaboration with the department of Neurosurgery at Foothills hospital, a Registered Nurse coordinates screening for and management of implanted neurostimulation devices.Neurostimulation involves implanting a fine wire along the nervous system and uses an electrical current to reduce neuropathic pain. These devices may be implanted along the spinal cord, a peripheral nerve or deep in the brain to treat neuropathic, or some ischemic, pain conditions (see eligibility criteria).
