Postpartum

Provides postpartum nursing care and support to families with babies younger than 2 months.

Provides nursing care and support which may include:

  • postpartum primary caregiver health assessment and infant assessment
  • breastfeeding support
  • infant feeding support
  • information about parenting and baby care
  • referrals to healthcare providers or community resources as needed

Eligibility

Families with babies younger than 2 months.

Service Access

Healthcare providers should consult the Alberta Referral Directory for service referral information.

Self referrals are accepted. Clients are contacted by telephone for initial assessment and a home visit or office visit is scheduled based on assessment.


Wait Times

Clients will be contacted within 48 hours of discharge from the hospital for an initial assessment
