Infectious Diseases Central Access and Triage

Infectious Diseases provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment and support to patients with infectious diseases.

This central access and triage service provides a single point of entry for infectious diseases referral. If an urgent consult is required, providers can call RAAPID NORTH (patients north of Red Deer) or RAAPID SOUTH (patients in and south of Red Deer).

Situations where Infectious Disease Consultation is NOT required:

  • Patients with query Lyme Disease who do not have positive serologic testing from the Provincial Laboratory
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia - Send referral to Rheumatology
  • Tuberculosis: patients with confirmed tuberculosis should be referred to TB Services
  • Genital Warts: Patients requiring removal of genital warts related to HPV should also be referred to the STI clinic
