Transcranial Doppler (TCD)

Assessment and screening of circulation in the Circle of Willis, including screening for stroke risk.

A Doppler assessment of the Circle of Willis to screen for potential narrowing of one of more arteries as well as various tests to assess for stroke risk including PFO bubble study and emboli detection. Patient demographics are primarily adult; however, TCD is used in pediatrics in Calgary in the Sickle Cell Disease clinic.
