Cardiac Navigation

The Cardiac Navigation Office supports triage and manages patients as they enter cardiac care providing support, education, direction and ensuring preparedness for their journey. This includes patients requiring cardiac surgery, cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology and device implants. The Cardiac Navigation Office also supports all aspects of patient flow throughout the program.

The Cardiac Navigation Office ensures the efficient provision of cardiac services at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute (Maz). The Cardiac Navigation Office supports triage and manages patients as they enter cardiac care providing support, education, direction and ensuring preparedness for their journey. This includes patients requiring cardiac surgery, cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology and device implants. The Cardiac Navigation Office ensures optimization of clinical resources and that wait times meet provincial and national performance standards for both in and out- patients as well as maintaining patient flow through program beds on a daily basis. The Cardiac Navigation Office is a liaison between patients, physicians and cardiac programs and supports planning, developing, delivering, and evaluating services for cardiac patients within the Edmonton, North and Central zones as well as patients who we serve from other provinces.
