Dental Clinics - Public Health

Qualified dentists provide reduced-fee dental treatment services to eligible low-income individuals or families who are without access to dental insurance.

This service provides:

  • Reduced-fee dental treatment services by qualified dentists to families in financial need and without access to dental insurance;
  • Check-ups, X-rays, fluoride treatment, sealants, scalings, fillings, front tooth root canals, extractions, etc.

The following services are NOT available:

  • crowns
  • bridges
  • veneers
  • full dentures
  • orthodontics or braces
  • molar root canals
  • periodontal surgery
  • partial dentures
  • sedation dentistry
  • complex or specialist services

Every second Wednesday the Clinic operates from 9:30 - 5:45. Please call the Clinic for information.


Due the COVID 19 pandemic, dental treatment has been suspended effective immediately.

Service Providers May Include
dental assistant, dental hygienist, dentist

Emergency clients must show evidence of low income and may receive care for relief of pain only. Applicants must provide:

  1. A completed Income Assessment Form
  2. Proof of family income (e.g. “Notice of Assessment” for previous year’s tax return)
  3. A completed Employer Letter or School Letter explaining dental coverage

People with access to group dental plans (e.g. Blue Cross) or having similar coverage (e.g. Child Health Benefit or Dental Assistance for Seniors Program) are not eligible.

Service Access

Healthcare providers should consult the Alberta Referral Directory for service referral information.

Children and Best Beginning clients receive priority for dental appointments.

A limited number of appointments for new adult patients are available monthly. Patients who have received a full series of treatment from this program must wait three years after treatment is complete before re-qualifying for another full series of treatment. Emergencies can still be dealt with during this three-year waiting period; however, will not include full exams or cleaning.

Fees are approximately 20% of the Alberta Usual and Customary Fee Guide for Dental Services.
