Driver Evaluation and Training Service

The Driver Evaluation & Training Service (DETS) provides driving assessment, counselling, and training for young adults, adults and seniors who have a wide variety of disabilities or health conditions.

DETS provides driving assessment, counseling, and training for people 14 years (with Learner's permit) and older who have a disability or health conditions that may affect their ability to drive. The Driver Evaluation and Training Service also:

  • teaching clients new driving techniques
  • helping clients choose adaptations for their vehicles
  • provides on-road training in an adapted or custom-modified car
  • provides on-road training in a wheelchair-accessible van

  • Disabled and public parking are available on designated surface lots and in the underground parkade.
  • Public transportation available with bus stops along 111 Avenue in front of the Main Entrance of the GRH.
  • Pay-by-Plate parking is available.

Eligibility

Client must have an authorization letter from the Alberta Transportation Driver Fitness and Monitoring Medical Reviewing Officer.
