- checking how much urine and stool your baby passes
- body temperature checks
- blood sugar checks
- newborn metabolic screening
- hearing screening
- teaching parents about care of baby including bathing, feeding, diapering, signs of illness, etc.
- monitoring and screening for signs of illness including jaundice, low blood sugar, and breathing problems
