Type A - Continuing Care Home

Offers 24/7 residential care for people with complex medical needs.

Offers housing and support for adults with a wide range of health issues.

Services may include:

  • on site care services by HCA, LPN and RN/RPN 24/7
  • rehabilitation to support healthy aging
  • social work
  • nutritious meals and snacks (changes for special needs can be made)
  • weekly room cleaning
  • care management followed by physician &/or nurse practitioner.
  • some sites have the ability to have secure households

clinical nutritionists, doctors, healthcare aides, licensed practical nurses (LPNs), registered nurses (RN), registered psychiatric nurses (RPN), nurse practitioner (NP), occupational therapists (OTs), pharmacists, recreation therapists, registered nurses (RNs)
Eligibility

Clients are assessed during the intake process to ensure placement in the most appropriate residential care setting available.

Service Access

You are assessed by your Home Care Case Manager. If you qualify for the service, home care will discuss your community choices


Wait Times

Depending on the location, there may be a waitlist for admission. AHS manages the waitlist / bed offer process

Fees

There’s a cost for housing (room and board set fee by Alberta Health) and extra services (i.e. laundry, cable, internet, telephone, etc). Care is paid for by AHS.

There is possibility of additional benefits through Alberta Serniors Benefits.
