Works with preschool children and their families if there is a tertiary developmental question related to the child's function that can't be diagnosed using available community resources. The 1 to 3 day assessment:
- can help families/caregivers understand and learn more about the child's developmental disability/disabilities
- directs the family/caregiver to appropriate community resources
The family is given a brief summary of the findings, diagnosis, and recommendations on the day of assessment.
A detailed report is mailed to the family and doctor after the assessment.
IPAS (Infant and Preschool Assessment Service) doesn't do assessments when the purpose is only to access treatment funding, determine school or adoption placements, or monitor progress.
