Location: Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital
This program helps children and their families if they have questions about the child's development or if they think the child might have Autism Spectrum Disorder that cannot be confirmed in the community. During the 1 to 2 day assessment, they look at how the child is doing. They then tell the family or caregivers more about any disabilities the child might have and help them find the right places to get help. After the assessment, the family receives a short summary of what was found and what they can do next. Later, they get a longer more detailed report in the mail. This program does provide assessments for the purpose of accessing treatment funding, to decide on school or adoption placement, or to monitor a child’s progress. They are able to do virtual assessments if needed. If you are from Fort McMurray, only virtual assessments are done.
