Physical Therapy Pediatric Outpatient Service

Provides service to children from a variety of pediatric surgery clinics, and to outpatients with a variety of medical conditions.

This service focuses on helping to restore physical function, movement, and mobility for children with movement disorders, pain, trauma, chronic disease, and developmental issues.

Using a family-centered care model, this service:

  • assesses the child
  • develops therapeutic goals
  • provides customized treatment plans
  • offers information and education on how to maintain mobility, function, and to prevent injury

Conditions that are seen include:

  • post-surgical patients
  • nerve injuries
  • muscle and tendon repairs
  • fractures
  • musculoskeletal injuries
  • complex regional pain syndrome
  • congenital anomalies
  • developmental delay
  • chronic disease

Getting There

Parking and Public transportation available.

  • Parking rates apply 24 hours per day, and are in effect for all public parkers, including those with provincially issued placards for persons with disabilities.
  • Public parking is GST exempt.
  • Pay by Plate machines accept Canadian coins or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express).
  • Maximum 28 Canadian coins per transaction, no pennies. Machines provide no change.
  • Pay on Foot machines accept Canadian coins and bills, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express). These machines will provide change.
  • Parking Office accepts payment by cash, credit card, debit or cheque
  • Bus stops at 112 and 114 St.
  • LRT Health Sciences station is located west across 114 St.

Eligibility

For children from birth to 17 years.

This service is not for children who are already in the care of a physical therapist or involved in a physical therapy program unless the referral is for a consultation or assistance with treatment strategies.

An estimated wait time will be provided at the time of appointment booking.

Fees

Fees for equipment (e.g., crutches, ice picks, axilla/hand grip pads, Dycem, Thera-Band, Thera-putty).
