Rural Respiratory Therapy Central Access and Triage (CAT)

This central access referral service provides a single point of entry for rural respiratory therapy services in the Calgary Zone.

Provide assessment, treatment and education related to lung health. This service includes:

  • education for patients and their families on asthma, COPD, tobacco reduction
  • diagnostic testing (i.e. spirometry assessments, with Respirologist interpretation; blood gases)
  • supporting rural community clients with life support equipment (e.g., ventilators)
  • monitoring airway health
  • supporting the Alberta Aids to Daily Living home oxygen assessments
  • also support clients in a home living environment, unable to access outpatient services
