Allied Health Hand Therapy Department

Hand therapy services for patients who have had consultation and/or surgery by a hand surgeon, providing services limited to injuries or surgery of the hand including assessment, treatment and education.

Services offered by Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists. The Allied Health Hand Therapy team assesses and treats sustained or acquired injuries and conditions of the wrist and hand. Referrals from plastic surgeons that meet the following criteria will be triaged:

  • acute/complex injuries to ligaments, tendons, nerves and supporting tissues
  • dislocations
  • fractures (surgical and non-surgical)
  • complex trauma/crush injuries
  • surgical releases and repairs to ligaments, tendons, nerves, supporting tissues
  • acute amputations
  • arthroplasties
  • burns
  • custom splinting

Eligibility

The patient is registered at the CRH Hand Clinic and has had consultation and/or surgery at CRH with the CRH Hand Clinic surgeon. Surgeon - is referred by a CRH hand surgeon. Injury or surgery is limited anatomically to the hand, is referred by a patient Care Provider with a documented consultation with a CRH hand surgeon. Patient is aware of the referral and agreeable to referral need.
