Pharmacogenomic (PGx) Testing and Consult Service

 Location: Alberta Wide

Pharmacist-led service for pharmacogenetic (PGx) testing and consultation to eligible Albertans. The service will provide virtual patient appointments for PGx education and results interpretation for health care providers.

Pharmacogenetic (PGx) testing offers an evidence-based precision medicine approach that uses genetic information to guide medication selection and dosing.  Albertans aged 6 - 24 years old adjusting or starting a psychiatric medication with a PGx indication would be eligible for PGx testing and consultation service. The service will provide PGx testing and interpretation of results from an AHS Pharmacist to predict how a patient may process or respond to specific medication. Patients can book pre-test and post-test consultation with the pharmacist.
