Referral NeededA family doctor's referral to an orthopedic surgeon is required. Patients who have orthopedics trauma (fractures) are accepted through the Edmonton Orthopedic Consult Line, Emergency Room, or Orthopedics Clinic.
Service AccessPatients are referred by their family doctor to an orthopedic surgeon who schedules the surgery and admits the patient to the unit. Patients who have orthopedics trauma (fractures)are accepted through the Orthopedic Consult Line, Emergency Room, or Orthopedics Clinic.
Wait TimesPatients scheduled for hip or knee arthroplasty surgery will be seen at the Edmonton Bone and Joint Centre for their pre-op assessment, preparation and teaching. Wait times for surgery after this varies.
Fractured Hip patient are seen through emergency and have a high priority with a goal of having surgery within 36 hours or sooner of injury
