Home Visitation Program

Supports first-time parents and helps them learn parenting skills, this may begin prior to the birth of a baby and may continue until they are 5 years old.

Provide new families with support / information in the following areas:

  • prenatal care
  • healthy child growth and development
  • positive ways to interact with baby
  • enhance family functioning
  • improve support systems

Service Providers May Include
home visitors, registered nurses (RNs)

For pregnant mothers or families with babies from 0 to 3 months. May also accept referrals for families with children up to 2 years, and families who are parenting for the first time in Canada.

Service Access

First-time parents can call self-refer or be referred by public health centres or community agencies.
