Prenatal Education Programs

AHS education options include virtual group classes and an online self-study course. People in Central Zone who may be vulnerable to poor health outcomes and/or those with no internet access may inquire about targeted education and support from public health nurses.

AHS perinatal education is available through a variety of formats offering information about nutrition before and after pregnancy; labour and delivery; breastfeeding, and newborn care.

Birth and Babies education developed and provided by Calgary Zone Public Health, provides a variety options:

Choose from classes listed for all Albertans. Registration and online payment are required.

People in Central Zone with no internet access and/or who may be vulnerable to poor health outcomes may call the Central Zone Prenatal Education Line to inquire about targeted education and support offered by public health nurses.

Eligibility

Access is limited to virtual classes that are listed for all Albertans

Targeted education and support are available for people who may be vulnerable to poor health outcomes and / or with no internet access for the virtual classes and online self-study course. A public health nurse will discuss your needs and offer options. Call the Central Zone Prenatal Education Line to speak with a public health nurse at your local Community Health Centre.

Service Access

No referral is required for Birth & Babies virtual classes and the online self-study course.

Virtual Classes: Birth & Babies From the Account tab choose Calgary & Area for virtual class options identified for all Albertans. Register and pay for classes directly from the website or call for assistance with registration.

For On-line Birth and Babies | Birth & Babies choose to continue to Online Birth & Babies for immediate access to self-study education at no cost.
