Addiction and Mental Health - Young Adult Treatment Program

The Young Adult Treatment (YAT) program is a substance abuse program for individuals 18-24 years old in Alberta

Program includes:

  • an intensive and voluntary 90-day residential treatment program with pre-residential treatment and outpatient service follow up supports.
  • a strong family education, support and counselling component.
  • aims to increase the skills and build on the strengths of young adults to help them succeed without the harmful use of alcohol, other drugs and gambling.

Three locations across the province:

  • Aventa Addiction Services for Women program integrates trauma-informed and addiction recovery services for young adult women.
  • Enviros Wilderness School Association offers an intensive adventure based wilderness addiction treatment program in a remote location for young adult men.
  • Poundmaker’s Lodge provides services for young people, programming is Indigenous culture based and incorporates traditional Indigenous healing and ceremonial practices.

addiction counsellors
Eligibility

YAT accepts clients aged 18-24 from around the province. Clients will meet with an addiction counsellor at an AHS Addiction and Mental Health Adult Services office in their home community (nearest). A referral can then be made to the program that best fits the clients’ goals and needs.
