Mental Health Capacity Building In-Schools Initiative

 Location: Alberta Wide

Mental Health Capacity Building is a promotion and prevention program that provides programming to increase mental health knowledge, skills and behaviors that bolster protective factors in children and youth so they can achieve the best possible health outcomes across their lifespan.

MHCB (Mental Health Capacity Building) is funded and led by Recovery Alberta (previously AHS) but contracted to school divisions and organizations to provide the services.

Through year round, group programming, based on research and best practice, MHCB promotes mental, emotional, and social well-being, and protects against negative outcomes by building resilience through skill development.

Some examples of universal programming include:

  • AHS Mental Health Kits
  • Second Step
  • Kimochis
  • Mind Up
  • Mental Health Literacy / Go To Educator
  • Mindful Schools

This service is provided by Recovery Alberta and the contracted service providers under Recovery Alberta.
