Early Pregnancy Assessment - Central Access and Triage

The Early Pregnancy Assessment (EPA) Central Access and Triage service provides a single point of contact to triage and process incoming referrals to EPA clinics within the Calgary zone.

Once triaged, referrals are allocated to EPA resources in the zone. Referrals that meet criteria have a high degree of suspicion for incomplete miscarriage (under 12 weeks for FMC EPA or up to 20 weeks for SHC EPA), or pregnancy of unknown viability. We do not manage pregnancy of unknown location (ectopic pregnancy). Patients who meet the referral criteria are then referred to EPA clinics for management options (which include expectant management, medical or surgical management).
