Coffee Chat Group for People Living with Aphasia

Social conversation practice for people with aphasia (from a neurological problem or a stroke) who are having trouble communicating.

Provides support and help for people with aphasia (partial or total loss of the ability to communicate verbally or using written words) from a neurological problem or a stroke, who are having trouble communicating.

Eligibility

Must be clearly diagnosed with aphasia by an SLP. Clients with dementia are not appropriate for the group. All patients must be independent in mobility and personal care (i.e., toileting).

Referral Needed

Referral from a speech-language pathologist.

You can be referred by a speech-language pathologist. Contact the adult speech pathology department at the Red Deer hospital at 403-704-9094


Wait Times

Wait time depends on how urgent the referral is and how long the wait list is.

Fees

$2 to $4 per session.
