A not-for-profit, charitable, community focused organization. All donations received stay in the area to enhance healthcare in the communities served by the Bow Island Health Centre.
Fundraising ResultsSince its inception in 1996, the Bow Island & District Health Foundation has received donations that total almost $620,000, thanks to the generous individuals and organizations in the communities served by the Bow Island Health Centre. On average, theFoundation receives donations of $60,000 annually.
Donated funds have purchased equipment for the Bow Island Health Centre, Community Health Services, Alfred Egan Home, Emergency Services and a client in need in the community (examples include: vital signs monitors, cardiac monitoring system, wheelchairs, special beds, GPS Units for ambulances, ceiling lifts, Electrocardiograph, and office furnishings).
Programs supported include recreational therapy for continuing care residents, educational programs for healthcare personnel, scholarships for graduating students entering the medical field, and recognition programs for volunteers, staff, and donors. Each of these enhancements serves to increase patient comfort and facilitate patient care.
The Foundation is currently raising funds to enhance healthcare in the area. Ongoing projects such as the Library/Education Fund support library upgrades, staff education, and three annual scholarships.
The scholarship program was established in 2001 to support and encourage education programs by assisting applicants in their quest for higher learning at a recognized post secondary institution or upgrading with continuing education.
Total value of the award consists of $500 to be distributed to one successful applicant in the area served by the Bow Island & District Health Foundation in each of the following categories:
- high school graduate entering post secondary education in chosen health care profession
- returning student to post secondary education in chosen health care profession
- currently a health care provider
All interested persons are invited to apply for one of the Bow Island & District Health Foundation Scholarships by August 1 of said year. The Scholarship Review Committee will select the student based on the following criteria:
- the recipient should be an all-around individual who has demonstrated academic achievement and / or outstanding leadership in their school or workplace.
- citizenship and community involvement
- lives in the supporting communities of Bow Island, Burdett, Conquerville, Etzikom, Foremost, Hoping, Manyberries, Nemiscam, Orion, Skiff, Whitla, Winnifred

The Bow Island & District Health Foundation is very active and organizes annual events like raffles, a Garage Sale and a Game Show Extravaganza. Additionally, a direct mail campaign is undertaken annually, in conjunction with a newsletter, to increase awareness of the Health Foundation's work and to encourage donations.
