Move 'n Mingle Fall Prevention Exercise Program

Offers a 45-minute group exercise program, twice weekly, at a number of sites throughout the city.

Led by certified Older Adult fitness instructors with additional balance and falls prevention training.

Classes include a combination of seated and standing exercises, and highlight balance, posture, and leg and core strength. The focus is on making day-to-day activities easier, helping individuals remain independent, and reducing the risk of falling.

Education is offered to participants on topics related to reducing falls.

This program is for People 65 and over who are at moderate risk for falls because they have:

  • bone, joint and/or other medical issues
  • posture or mobility concerns
  • problems with vision
  • challenges in performing activities that require balance
  • challenges accessing community programs due to limitations such as low income and / or very few social connections

To attend Move N Mingle, participants must be:

  • medically stable
  • able to safely get out of a chair and move around without help
  • able to do 5 sit stands without using hands
  • able to do standing movements for half of a 45-minute class
  • aware of and understand what movements are safe for them to do

Call to register. A telephone interview is the first step to determine if you are physically capable and able to fully participate.
