The mandatory evacuation order for La Crete and areas of Mackenzie County has been lifted & people will be allowed back into their homes. The voluntary re-entry will begin Monday, June 24 at 2 p.m.

For individuals experiencing addiction and mental health concerns, the Mental Health Clinic at Northwest Health Centre in High Level is resuming normal hours of operation, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. Please call the clinic directly at 780-841-3229 for more information or to make an appointment. Please note the Clinic also provides a walk-in services on Thursdays 9 a.m.-12 p.m. & 1-3 p.m.

Due to wildfires in the area, AHS has evacuated long-term care residents from La Crete. Residents are being safely relocated to health facilities in other Alberta communities.
The care and safety of our residents remains our top priority. We thank the AHS staff & physicians who are assisting in this safe evacuation, and who continue to provide safe & high quality care to residents & families.

Update for Residents & Families of Those Who Were Evacuated From Long-Term Care in La Crete & High Level

High Level’s Northwest Health Centre has regular services available, including emergency, diagnostic services, mental health, home care, public health, allied health, and pharmacy.
Acute care is currently restricted to six beds, and a decision to re-open long-term care will be made over the next couple of weeks so we can ensure the comfort and safety of the residents. It is important to consider the impact of these moves on any vulnerable population.
Obstetrics services will be temporarily restricted to imminent/emergency deliveries, and emergency c-sections. There will be no inductions and no scheduled c-sections until further notice.

Due to potential threat of wildfires in the area, AHS is evacuating acute patients and continuing care residents from La Crete and Fort Vermillion, starting with our patients with the highest clinical needs.
Patients/residents are being safely relocated to health facilities in Edmonton and surrounding communities.
There is no imminent danger to the La Crete and Fort Vermilion area. Given the complexity of a number of patients and residents, to ensure safe and timely transport, AHS is proceeding with evacuation. AHS is doing this in collaboration with our municipal partners.
The care and safety of our patients and residents remains our top priority.
We thank the AHS staff & physicians who are assisting in this safe evacuation, and who continue to provide safe & high quality care to patients & families.
The emergency department at St. Theresa General Hospital in Fort Vermilion remains open. Patients requiring admission will be transported out to another AHS facility.
Emergency services will continue to be provided in High Level as they have been throughout the evacuation period.

Due to smoke caused by wildfires in the area, AHS is evacuating 15 patients from the Manning Community Health Centre in Manning.
This is in addition to four patients who were transferred out of the community yesterday.
This includes acute patients and long term care residents. Patients/residents are being safely relocated to health facilities in McLennan, Fairview and Beaverlodge.

Given the current poor air quality due to smoke, we have temporarily relocated patients with compromised respiratory function to another community. We will continue to monitor all patients, as well as the air quality.

For those impacted by the wildfires in the High Level area, medication refills & new prescriptions can be filled at Fort Vermilion’s St. Theresa General Hospital (4506 46 Ave). The pharmacy is open for drop-in visits Mon-Sat, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
For residents who have evacuated to other communities, please visit your nearest pharmacy. Pharmacists should be able to assist you in obtaining the medications you need.
