Long Range Planning

Throughout 2016 and 2017, Alberta Health Services (AHS), in partnership with Alberta Health, met with community members, patients, health professionals, physicians, community health partners, and health experts from across the province to talk about building the future of healthcare.

Highlights

Zone healthcare plans:

  • provide a long-term view of healthcare delivery over the next 15 years
  • play a key role to help ensure decisions we’re making today result in the best possible outcomes for tomorrow
  • align to the AHS Business Plan
  • help guide the development and implementation of Zone-specific strategies and initiatives

Central Zone

Central Zone map

Central Zone spans from Rocky Mountain House in the west to Lloydminster on the eastern edge of the province, and from Drumheller north through Red Deer, and northeast to Two Hills.

Calgary Zone is roughly the size of Switzerland. It covers an area from Didsbury in the north, through Calgary to Claresholm to the south, and from Banff in the west to Strathmore, to the east.
