Antibiotic Awareness Week 2017

Appropriateness of Care: Asymptomatic Bacteriuria Project

From November 13-19, Alberta Health Services (AHS) joins health care providers across Canada and around the world to raise awareness about antibiotic resistance, during Antibiotic Awareness Week 2017.

For Antibiotic Awareness Week 2017, AHS Antimicrobial Stewardship is launching materials related to a project intended to improve inappropriate treatment for urinary tract infections, by using evidence based practices to reduce inappropriate urine testing. The project is a province-wide, interdisciplinary approach to reduce inappropriate antibiotic treatment of asymptomatic bacteriuria. A variety of tools have been developed, including an awareness poster.
