Parking lot upgrades at local health centre starts next week

May 20, 2021

LAC LA BICHE – Parking lot improvements at the William J. Cadzow – Lac La Biche Healthcare Centre are set to begin next week.

Asphalt resurfacing work around the Alberta Health Services (AHS) facility is taking place this spring and summer. Work to prepare the site is scheduled to start May 25 and the project is expected to be finished by mid-August, weather permitting.

The healthcare centre, including the emergency department and main entrance, will remain open and accessible to the public throughout construction. Traffic control personnel will be on-site during the day to direct traffic to the most appropriate entrance. Signage will also be in place to guide traffic and make the public aware of these temporary changes.

The project will be completed in five phases, beginning with the northern parking area by the main entrance. The project will also include fresh crosswalk and line painting, new concrete curbing, sidewalks and new staff entrance stairs.

Additional parking for staff and the public will be available across the street at Portage College throughout construction, as needed. AHS thanks the college, along with our staff, physicians and the community, for their understanding and co-operation during this construction period.

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Its mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans.
