This program offers low risk obstetrical and newborn care services.

Services provided include:

  • care during pregnancy (antepartum care)
  • outpatient obstetrical assessment and triage
  • obstetrical pre-admission clinic
  • labour and delivery
  • postpartum and newborn care

Note

Rimbey Hospital provides 24 / 7 emergency assessment and care for obstetrical patients.

Laboring patients should be directed to the Emergency Department (ED) where they will be either:

  1. Assessed and delivered in the ED (for imminent deliveries).
  2. Assessed, admitted and delivered in Acute care Labour and Delivery suite (for planned, low riskdeliveries of patients managed by Rimbey physicians)
  3. Assessed and transferred to another AHS site for delivery (usually Red Deer),
  4. Assessed and sent to another AHS delivery site.

Please call prior to accessing obstetrical services. Red Deer Regional Hospital clients do not need to call prior to arriving at Hospital.
