Intravenous (IV) Therapy Clinic

Provides a variety of intravenous (IV) therapies to outpatients.

Post care for procedures such as:

  • Outpatient Antimicrobial Therapy Clinic
  • blood & blood product transfusions
  • chronic disease medication infusion

Home IV
The program is for people who need IV therapy for longer than 3 days and who meet the criteria to have it at home rather than in hospital. People who use this service are referred to Home Care for monitoring and see a doctor regularly.

Eligibility

Medical day patients require coverage from physician with admitting privilege.

Outpatient Antimicrobial Therapy patients at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and require referrals from departments within the hospital and the Northeast Community Health Centre (NEHEC).

Referral Needed

Physician referral required.  If your patient has a central venous catheter, please include order for use as well as locking solution
