Provincial Family Violence Treatment Program

Provides assessment and treatment for individuals who have been mandated through the court system or community corrections (probation) for charges related to family violence.

Participants in the Provincial Family Violence Treatment Program will engage in assessment and treatment services to address factors that contribute to family violence. This service is free of cost and offers an average of 2 - 5 sessions of individual counselling plus a 14 - 16 week group treatment where clients work with facilitators to explore the underlying causes of family violence and develop strategies to promote healthy relationships. Depending on the community, services may be delivered virtually, in-person, or both. The Provincial Family Violence Treatment Program is provided by Recovery Alberta following receipt of appropriate referrals from Counselling Alberta.
