Audiology Services

 Location: South Health Campus

Community Audiology within the Calgary Zone provides a full range of diagnostic audiological and specialized services for infants, children, adults and seniors.

Centralized referral intake and scheduling is utilized for Community Audiology which includes multiple sites:

  • Richmond Road Diagnostic and Treatment Centre (RRDTC)
  • Arthur Child Cancer Care (ACCC)
  • Foothills Medical Centre (FMC)
  • South Health Campus (SHC)
  • Airdrie Community Health Centre (ACHC)

Not all services are offered at each site. Available sites for specific testing will be shared at the time of scheduling appointment.

SHC is the site for all vestibular assessments.

RRDTC is home to the Adult Cochlear Implant Service for the southern half of the province.

Pediatric hearing assessments are offered at RRDTC and ACHC.

Hearing screening is offered at RRDTC.

Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) assessments are at RRDTC only.

Eligibility

Exclusion Criteria

  • Adult diagnostic hearing assessments for patients residing outside of the Calgary Zone
  • Patients with NO Alberta Health Care Coverage - refer to private practice audiology
  • Previously identified permanent hearing loss requiring ongoing monitoring and/or hearing aid fittings or adjustments - refer to private practice audiology and / or their hearing aid provider
  • Third party assessment requests (e.g. Veteran's Affairs; Worker's Compensation Board; employment and insurance-related requests) - refer to private practice audiology
  • Those seeking to adjust current hearing aids or purchase new hearing aids

Wait Times

Wait times vary depending on service requested. The wait time for routine adult hearing assessments is approximately 9-12 months.
