Acute Care Addiction Recovery Program

The Acute Care Addiction Recovery Program (previously ARCH) strives to improve health outcomes and health care access for patients with substance use disorders. This team delivers specialty consult services to emergency department patients and hospital inpatients. This team also provides patient-centered, evidence-based, and trauma-informed care. By using a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach, the team supports patients at every step in their recovery journey.

The ACARP Team works with a patient's care team in the emergency department (ED) or inpatient setting and assists with:

  • complex withdrawal management
  • treatment and recovery planning
  • counselling, peer and psychosocial supports
  • overdose prevention
  • referrals to wraparound addiction recovery supports
  • linkage to primary and community-based care
  • connections to housing, healthcare coverage, income supports and identification
  • other health promotion interventions
