Uses information and communication technology to deliver health services, expertise, and information within Alberta, other provinces, and beyond. Telehealth is confidential and secure.
Telehealth (often called videoconference) is a secure technology in healthcare facilities across Alberta that connects healthcare providers with patients in different locations. In a telehealth session, you can see, hear, and talk to your healthcare provider without travelling to where they are.
Telehealth’s experience supports clinical discussions for children, adults, seniors, and families. Patients, families, and health teams use telehealth for health-related services and education, from one-time health-related visits to ongoing follow-up.
The technology is flexible and supports 37 clinical programs. These are a few examples:
- Addiction and Mental Health
- Neurology such as stroke, epilepsy
- Chronic diseases like diabetes or arthritis
- Rehabilitation services
- Senior’s Health
