Advanced Venous Access Service

A specialty service that assesses and inserts Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters to provide access for intravenous therapies including (but not limited to) hydration, antimicrobials, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition.

Provides services to people with long-term intravenous (IV) therapy such as:

  • assessment and insertion of PICC
  • consultation
  • education, problem solving and resource for healthcare providers related to Cental Venous Access Catheters
  • follow-up care and maintenance

Eligibility

Provides services to adult patients only. Eligibility will be assessed by AVAS registered nurses.
