This service offers skill-building, assessment, and treatment activities for the families of children who have or may develop emotional or behavioural problems, developmental delays, or disabilities.The Audiology and Children's Allied Health team provides:
Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) / Assistive Technology (AT) assessment and service:
- for all individuals who may be needing technology to support communication when they are non-verbal or low verbal. Teams work together with the families and patients to collect the required information to try out the technology that works best for the individual (low tech or high tech equipment)
Occupational Therapy (OT):
- for children having trouble with fine motor skills, visual-motor skills, perceptual skills, self-care skills, play skills, or who are having trouble coping within their environment
Physical Therapy (PT):
- focuses on gross motor skills including posture, balance, coordination, and the effect of muscles and joints on these skills
Speech-Language Therapy (SLP):
- assessment and treatment of communication and feeding/swallowing development issues
Eating, Feeding and Swallowing Services (Pediatric Eating And Swallowing service):
- various disciplines are involved with feeding and swallowing referrals including SLP, OT and Nutrition Services
Developmental and Behavioural Diagnostic Clinic:
- teams gather assessment information in collaboration with schools to support children and families with complex assessment needs
This clinic replaces the former Autism Spectrum Disorders diagnostic service.
