Creating and maintaining technical drawings

Draftspersons help AHS meet its legal obligation to retain accurate and up-to-date plans and diagrams of its buildings and systems, including architectural, electrical, mechanical, and structural systems.

These drawings are reviewed and consulted when planning repairs or renovations to ensure the integrity of the structure and systems.

Duties

  • Prepare, maintain and file drawings of hospitals and facilities
  • Ensure architectural, electrical, mechanical and structural systems drawings are up-to-date
  • Catalogue facilities’ library of drawings, print and reproduce drawings and sketches as required
  • Maintain files on equipment, operating and repair manuals
  • Investigate the feasibility of the renovation projects by analyzing plans and estimating cost

Make a Difference

  • Ensure facilities are safely built and up to code
  • Ensure renovations are structurally sound and follow building codes
  • Maintain important records necessary for safe building and equipment operation, maintenance, and repair
  • Plan preventative maintenance to optimize the lifespan of buildings and systems
  • Analyze cost and feasibility of construction and renovation projects

Work Collaboratively

  • Collaborate with other drafts people, engineers, designers, tradespeople, contractors, and administrative staff
  • Interact with various internal and external stakeholders, local or municipal government
  • Work in a variety of facilities including hospitals and corporate offices
