Bow Island program benefits students and seniors

August 30, 2016

BOW ISLAND – A program that pairs youth volunteers with long-term care residents for outings and activities is gearing up to operate this fall.

This program enriches the lives of residents at the Bow Island Health Centre, Long Term Care and Alfred Egan Home through socialization and interaction with young people. It also provides young volunteers with a chance to learn more about the health-care system – exposing them to a variety of different career possibilities while helping develop their skills around teamwork, communication and interacting with health-care providers, residents, family and other volunteers.

To qualify, candidates must be 13 to 17 years of age and have parental consent. Work experience credits are offered.
