AHS offers mealtime assistance training for volunteers

DRAYTON VALLEY – Area residents interested in making a difference for patients in their community are encouraged to consider volunteering for the Mealtime Assistance Program at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre or Breton Health Centre.

The Mealtime Assistance Program focuses on enhancing a patient’s meal experience by supporting their ability to eat and promote enjoyment of their meals.

Training for this volunteer opportunity will include instruction on assisting with mealtime activities such as feeding, opening packages and cutting food. Information on various methods of providing encouragement at mealtimes will also be shared.

The mealtime assistance volunteer training course will be held:

  • November 23 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
    Breton Health Centre ─ 4919 49 Ave
  • November 24 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
    Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre ─ 4550 Madsen Ave
