AHS offers mealtime assistance training for volunteers

March 26, 2019

RED DEER – Residents interested in making a difference for patients in their communities are encouraged to consider volunteering for the Mealtime Assistance Program at their nearest care facility.

The Mealtime Assistance Program focuses on enhancing a patient’s meal experience by supporting their ability to eat and promote the enjoyment of their meals.

Training for this volunteer opportunity will include instruction on assisting with mealtime activities such as feeding, opening packages and cutting food. Information on various methods of providing encouragement at mealtimes will also be shared.

For more information or to register to become a volunteer, please contact ahs.ca/volunteer resources.
