Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital reopens Labour and Delivery Services

June 16, 2020

EDMONTON – The Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital’s (FSCH) Women’s Health Program will resume obstetrical services for patients that are not COVID-19 positive nor COVID-19 presumptive effective Tuesday, June 16th at 8 a.m.

All appropriate infection prevention and control measures have been implemented to ensure safe patient care as the FSCH labour and delivery unit reopens to maternity patients.

Midwives and physicians with privileges at the FSCH will work with their patients to screen for COVID-19 prior to delivery and ensure the patient is directed to the appropriate hospital.

For the duration of the pandemic response, COVID-19 positive and COVID-19 presumptive positive patients will be referred or transferred to the Sturgeon Community Hospital, the Misericordia Community Hospital, the Grey Nuns Community Hospital and the Royal Alexandra Hospital’s Lois Hole Hospital for Women, if delivery is not imminent.
