Physician coverage uninterrupted at Rocky Mountain House Health Centre

October 7, 2020

ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOUSE – Alberta Health Services (AHS), together with our Government partners, wish to provide assurance to the community that there are no gaps in physician coverage at the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre.

“There are no gaps in physician coverage at the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre. All shifts at the hospital are covered at this time with local and locum (temporary) physicians, and we continue to monitor the situation,” says Dr. Jennifer Bestard, Interim Zone Medical Director in AHS Central Zone.

“Our priority is the safe care of Albertans, and we are working to support physicians and the community.

“Rocky Mountain House is one of the highest priority areas for physician recruitment within the Central Zone. Alberta Health Services has been working to recruit several physicians to the area, and we are currently in discussion with five new physicians to secure their arrival for the new year.

“Details around when they will begin to provide care are being finalized with the individual physicians.”

“Physician recruitment to Rocky Mountain House is a priority for AHS,” says Minister of Health Tyler Shandro.  “I’m pleased that hospital coverage continues uninterrupted and I look forward to welcoming new physicians to the community.”
