MANNING — Local and area residents now have improved access to primary care with the recruitment of a new family medicine physician now practising in the community.

Dr. Izanne Nel is providing care at the Manning Medical Clinic and the Manning Community Health Centre. She is accepting new patients and can be reached at 780-758-9292.

“It’s a pleasure to welcome Dr. Nel and her family to Manning,” says Dan Williams, MLA for Peace River. “Dr. Nel’s experience and skills will be a tremendous asset to the community and her family’s love of outdoor activities will make them a great fit for this beautiful location.”

Dr. Nel, who previously practised in South Africa, is one of three physicians providing services here.

“Manning and surrounding district are in a very enviable position to now boast three resident physicians,” says Terry Ungarian, chair of the Manning Area Attraction and Retention Committee. With this solid base of medical professionals, the hope is that more support staff will choose Manning as a destination to work and reside.”

Alberta Health Services (AHS) continues to recruit for physicians across northern Alberta to meet community needs.  AHS has physician resource planners who are dedicated to identifying and pursuing international and domestic physician recruitment opportunities. They work closely with various community partners and organizations, such as local Health Advisory Councils, the Rural Health Professions Action Plan, and independent physician attraction and retention committees.

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Its mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans.
