Physician coverage found: Smoky Lake emergency department to remain open next week until Nov. 23

SMOKY LAKE — Physician coverage has been found for the emergency department (ED) at the George McDougall - Smoky Lake Healthcare Centre emergency department next week, for some dates and times that were previously announced to be without physician coverage.

Physician coverage has been found for 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 20, to 8 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 21; 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 21 to 8 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 22, and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22 – 8 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 23. The emergency department will remain open and available to area residents in need of urgent care during these times.

The previous Public Service Announcement issued Nov. 17 stated that the George McDougall - Smoky Lake Healthcare Centre emergency department would be temporarily without on-site physician coverage during these times, but this is now being rescinded.

Due to the inability to secure physician coverage, the George McDougall - Smoky Lake Healthcare Centre emergency department will be temporarily without on-site physician coverage the following times:
