Updated: Milk River Emergency Department temporary closure

Milk River – There is an update to the closure of the Milk River Health Centre Emergency Department (ED) to a PSA that was sent on December 22, 2023. Some physician coverage for the ED has been secured. The centre was to be temporarily closed at 5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 22 and re-open at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2 to provide 24-hour service.

The ED will now resume hours as follows: December 24 8 a.m. until December 26 at 8 a.m., closing again until January 2, 2024.

Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency. EMS calls will be re-routed to Raymond Health Centre (60 km away) or Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge (87 km). Patients seeking care can access emergency services at the Raymond Health Centre and Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.

Residents are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions. Individuals requiring non-emergency medical care are also encouraged to call their family physician.
