Blue-green algae advisory lifted for Shiningbank Lake

September 21, 2011

WHITECOURT – Alberta Health Services (AHS) has lifted the blue-green algae advisory for Shiningbank Lake (located southwest of Whitecourt). Testing of lake water has confirmed that levels of blue-green algae-produced toxin are now below maximum acceptable guidelines, meaning it is again safe to swim, wade, and consume fish caught from Shiningbank Lake.

Blue-green algae signage, previously posted around the lake, is also being removed.

If you require further information on blue-green algae, or suspect a problem related to blue-green algae, please call Health Link Alberta at 1-866-408-LINK (5465).
