Public health clinics to resume at High River Hospital

July 24, 2013

HIGH RIVER — Effective tomorrow, Thursday, July 25, routine immunizations will be available by appointment at the High River General Hospital for adults and children, ages two months and older.

Public Health clinics in High River will resume in the outpatient clinic area of the hospital for all Well Child Clinic immunizations – as well as routine immunizations for adults. These immunizations had been temporarily relocated to clinics in Okotoks and Nanton as a result of recent flooding.

Residents with an upcoming immunization appointment who would normally attend a public health clinic in High River are asked to go to the High River General Hospital, effective Thursday. Please first call Okotoks Public Health at 403-995-2600 to confirm or book appointments. Those wishing to attend a public health clinic at another location are asked to re-book by also calling Okotoks Public Health. Similarly, anyone who missed an immunization appointment due to flood-related disruption is asked to re-book their appointment by contacting Okotoks Public Health.

Immunization is the most effective way to protect against childhood diseases such as chicken pox, mumps, measles, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), tetanus and polio. For more information about immunizations or for non-emergency health advice, call Health Link Alberta to speak to a registered nurse 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at 1-866-408-5465.
